The City of Temiskaming Shores' role as a regional centre, in the District, for goods and services is reflected in its heavy economic base concentration in the provision of regional and tourism services.

The long-term prosperity of Ontario municipalities is tied to the health of their economic base.  The restructuring to create Temiskaming Shores fortuitously brought together three communities that together make for a mature and diverse economic base that will provide for a healthy future.

The amalgamation has effectively carved out an economic role for Temiskaming Shores as a regional service centre in the delivery of a range of health care, educational and social services; the City of Temiskaming Shores is a Place for Business.
