This section is intended to provide you with the information you need to exercise your right to vote.

Is your name on the Voters' List of Electors? / Avis de revision de la liste electorale

The voters' list of electors is now available for review at City Hall, 325 Farr Drive, Haileybury, ON.  This voters' list of electors will be used for the election of members of council and school board trustees at the forthcoming election. 

Please ensure that you are listed on the voters' list and that the corresponding information is correct.  Application may be made by any person for the purpose of making additions, or corrections to, or deletions from the said list to the Municipal Clerk between September 7, 2010 and October 25, 2010. 

La liste électorale pour les élections 2010 est maintenant disponible pour révision.  S'il-vous-plaît vous assurer que votre nom est sur la liste.  En cas d'erreurs, les formulaires pour ajouter ou corriger la liste électorale sont disponibles au bureau municipal. Revisions to the Voters' List may be made:

 During regular office hours

September 7, 2010 to October 22, 2010 between 8:30a.m. and 4:30p.m. at City Hall, 325    Farr Drive Haileybury

 During advance polls

Friday, October 15, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Timiskaming Square Mall;

Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Timiskaming Square Mall;

Monday, October 18, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Haileybury Branch Library;

 During regular voting polls

October 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. at City Hall for Haileybury residents, at Riverside Place for New Liskeard residents, and at the Timiskaming Square Mall for Dymond residents.

Who is entitled to vote?

Any person who on Voting Day meets the following qualifications is eligible to vote:

1. Is a Canadian citizen;
2. Is at least 18 years old on Voting Day;
3. Resides in the City of Temiskaming Shores or is the owner, tenant, spouse or same sex partner of the owner or tenant of land;
4. Any person not prohibited by law from voting.

Who is not entitled to vote?

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 prohibits the following individuals from voting:

1. Any person who is not a qualified voter;
2. A person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;
3. A Corporation;
4. A person acting as an executor or trustee;
5. A person who has been convicted of corrupt practices under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 in the last four years;

Anyone who is prohibited, by law, from voting.

October 16, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Timiskaming Square Mall - Food Basics Corridor;

October 18, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Haileybury Branch Library;

What if I am unavailable to vote on October 25, 2010?

Voting Proxy - What if I am unavailable to vote on October 15, 16, 18 or 25, 2010?

An elector may appoint another person qualified as an elector within the same municipality as his or her voting proxy, using the prescribed for available from the Clerk's Office at 325 Farr Drive, 672-3363 ext.4104.

Vote par Procuration

Un électrice ou un électeur dans une élection municipale peut nommer une autre personne qui possède les qualités requises pour voter dans la même municipalité comme son mandataire, en se servant de la formule prescrite.

 Si vous ne pouvez pas voter durant le vote à l'avance soit le 15, 16, ou 18 octobre, 2010 ou la journée d'élection soit le 25 octobre, 2010 et exigez un Vote par Procuration, s'il vous plaît contacter Suzanne Weiss au 705-672-3363 poste 4104.

In this election you will be selecting the following representatives for the period December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014.

MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

• one (1) mayor and six (6) councillors.

SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEES - the following seats have all been acclaimed.

• One (1) School Board Trustee for Northeastern Catholic District School Board Zone B - Martin Drainville,
• one (1) School Board Trustee for Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario Zone E - Roger Brazeau,
• one (1) School Board Trustee for District School Board Ontario North East Zone A -  Doug Shearer,
• one (1) School Board Trustee for District School Board Ontario North East Zone B - Bill Brookfield, and
• one (1) School Board Trustee for Conseil scolaire catholique des Grandes Rivi?res Zone B - Roger Grégoire.
