Community Growth & Planning

The Department of Community Growth & Planning a diverse workload.

Planning provides various planning services under the Planning Act, making recommendations to Council and following up on development within the City. Planning Services controls: official plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments, site plan agreements, minor variances, severances and zoning inquiries.

Development Services administers the Ontario Building Code and is in charge of By-law Enforcement, its vast expertise is used to answer any questions or complaints that our residents may have.

Principal Areas of Service:

• Building Services (building applications, building plans, plans examination, building permits and building inspections)
• By-law administration and enforcement (fences, noise, parking, property standard, signs and zoning by-laws)
• Committee of Adjustment
