About the Program

In June 2021, Council endorsed the implementation of a Covid-19 Business Recovery Program intended to provide relief to businesses located within the City of Temiskaming Shores.  Eligible businesses will receive a 35% rebate of the property’s applicable commercial water and sewer charges which will be applied as a credit to the property tax account.  Cash refunds are not an option. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility by the Treasurer.

In such cases where the business owner is a tenant, completion of the joint declaration between the tenant and the landlord will be required.  It will be the responsibility of the joint applicants to mutually agree on the best method of passing along the rebate to the business owner.  The City of Temiskaming Shores does not assume any responsibility in this distribution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Businesses must be within the commercial assessment class to be eligible to apply for the water/sewer rebate (residential, industrial or institutional are not eligible for this program);
  • Businesses must have been required to close or significantly restrict services as per provincial COVID rules;
  • Documentation demonstrating revenue loss for the applicable period (April – August 2020) must be provided;
