Pile of books beside sunglass and sunscreen

Summer reading is an entirely different experience. While in the winter, we may use reading as an excuse to stay inside where it is warm, during the summer, it’s a totally different ball game! My favourite kind of summer day is one where I relax outside with a cold drink and a captivating novel.

Not only has the setting of our reading changed for the summer, the books we read are usually different too! Does anyone want to slog through complicated Russian literature while lounging on the beach? During the summer, we want to keep it light and fun. Perhaps a mystery set on a wealthy private island, in E. Lockharts “We Were Liars” would suffice. Or a gripping thriller taking place during a drought in Australia, in Jane Harper’s “The Dry”. There are also excellent lighter books which are perfect for summer, like Liane Moriarty’s “What Alice Forgot”, Emma Straub’s “Modern Lovers”, or Kevin Kwan’s “Crazy Rich Asians” (soon to be a movie!). No matter what your summer reading style, there’s always something to be found at the library.
