City of Temiskaming Shores
Intersection and Active Transportation Improvements

The City of Temiskaming Shores (City) together with their Consultant, D.M. Wills Associates Ltd. (Wills), is undertaking detailed design for improvements to key intersections on Main Street and the addition of an active transportation pathway along Georgina Avenue in the Town of Haileybury. The objective is to improve traffic safety, optimize intersection functionality, and encourage multi-modal transportation by enhancing pedestrian infrastructure. This project aligns with the City’s transportation objectives and Vision Zero, Complete Streets principles.

Considerations for the intersection improvements at Rorke Ave. and Main St. and Ferguson Ave. include improved pedestrian crossings, review of existing 3-way stop control, removal of turn lanes or channelization, traffic calming, and protected intersections. The considerations align with the recommendations of the previously prepared Downtown Cores.

Transportation Study and Active Transportation Plan (ATP). The Active Transportation Pathway along the east side of Georgina Avenue is consistent with the recommendations of the ATP and will connect STATO Trail from Morissette Drive to Albert Street.
