About

The Lifesaving Society and The City of Temiskaming Shores is dedicated to creating Water Smart® Kids.  Water Smart® kids know how to swim and behave safely in and around the water.  The Lifesaving Society’s Swim Program makes sure that your children are Water Smart® before they get in too deep.  It is a complete program from Parent and tot through to Leaderships and is stroke and skill driven.  The program is designed to make learning fun.  Cannonballs, handstands, and somersaults are not only allowed, but are actually encouraged as part of the learning process.

Continuous Evaluation
With the Lifesaving Society program the instructors are continuously evaluating the participant.  As they program from level to level the Instructor begins to work on the next level immediately.  On the last class a progress memo is distributed to each student to outline their accomplishments and indicate what level to register them in next time.

We Emphasize Achievement
Parents, during each and every session your child is enrolled in lessons, he or she is learning, experiencing and achieving!  During the lessons some children will progress to the next level and others will continue to work at the same level.  At the end of a session, if your child does not move to the next level, please don’t consider it a failure. Unfortunately some participants become extremely stressed on the last day while waiting for a pass or fail.  As instructors we work hard to reduce this stress by using continuous evaluation and by emphasizing achievements.  With the standards required with the Lifesaving Program it is quite probable that candidates will remain in each level, learning and excelling, for many sessions.

Applicable taxes will be charged to participants over the age of 15. The Pool and Fitness Centre reserves the right to limit registration, withdraw, amend, change, postpone, blend, cancel or reschedule classes.
