Equipment Operator - Competition No. 2025-023

The City of Temiskaming Shores is currently seeking a motivated, team-oriented, and skilled individual to join our team as an Equipment Operator within the Public Works department. The successful candidate must possess the skills and ability to obtain water and sewer certification with training and support from the City.

Role and Responsibilities

• Safely operate various municipal equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, snowplows, sanders, half-ton trucks, street sweepers, snow blowers, and steamers.
• Responsible to plow, sand and salt roads during winter months.
• Required to load and unload trucks by hand or by use of mechanical devices.
• Must assist with thawing ice from blocked culverts and provides drainage for flooded areas and other areas subject to flooding.
• Transport personnel, materials, supplies, equipment and refuse.

·         Perform routine maintenance tasks related to equipment.

·         Routinely maintain cleanliness of equipment.

• Accurately maintain daily equipment usage records.
• Perform general labour duties as required.
• Continuously demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the municipality’s safety policies and procedures. Must abide by all applicable provincial legislation, as well as equipment operating procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         Must possess a valid Province of Ontario Class “DZ” driver’s licence with a proven acceptable driving record.

·         Must be willing to obtain water/waste water operator in training certificate

·         Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent

·         Two (2) years of relevant experience
