Municipal Fire Ban Implemented

The City of Temiskaming Shores and the Township of Harris have implemented fire bans due to the extreme forest fire danger rating in the area.

All burning permits are suspended and all open-air fires are prohibited, including fires for cooking and warmth. Residents must make alternate provisions during this period.

McKelvie/Baker Infrastructure Project

The City of Temiskaming Shores invites residents to attend a Public Information Session about the McKelvie/Baker Infrastructure Project.

The session will take place on Wednesday, June 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Place, where residents can learn more about the project and ask questions.

2026 Marina Opening Dates

The City of Temiskaming Shores is advising residents and visitors of the 2026 opening dates for the Haileybury and New Liskeard marinas.

Haileybury Marina opens Friday, May 15, 2026, and New Liskeard Marina opens Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Learn more and register at temiskamingshores.ca/recreation-and-culture/marinas/.

Recreation Department Seasonal Operations Update – Spring 2026

The City is providing an update on seasonal facility openings and maintenance due to weather conditions and a late spring.

Splash pad and spray zone openings are delayed until May 29, 2026, while STATO Trail work is expected to be completed by May 22, 2026. Outdoor washrooms will open by May 11, and sport courts and playgrounds are now open.

A routine test of the Alert Ready system will take place in Ontario on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 1:55 p.m. EDT.

The City has received an application for a Noise By-law exemption for the New Liskeard Biker’s Reunion / Rockin’ on Canada Day Event at the New Liskeard Fall Fair Grounds and Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena.

A Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 during the Committee of the Whole Meeting scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 325 Farr Drive.

Notice of Nomination for Office - School Board Trustees

Nominations for School Board Trustee offices for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections may be filed beginning May 1, 2026.

Nomination papers must be filed by appointment with the appropriate Returning Officer by August 20, 2026, or on Nomination Day, August 21, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., with a $100 filing fee.

Les déclarations doivent être déposées sur rendez-vous auprès de la scrutatrice ou du scrutateur approprié au plus tard le 20 août 2026, ou le jour de la mise en candidature, le 21 août 2026, entre 9 h et 14 h, avec des frais de dépôt de 100 $.
