Orange Watch - Winter Storm March 15

Weather Notification
Orange Watch - Winter Storm

Environment Canada issued an Orange Watch - Winter Storm for our area, beginning Sunday, and continuing through Monday night.

What to expect:

·       Major winter storm expected, with total snowfall accumulations of 30 to 50 cm.

·       Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.

·       Wind gust of 70-80 km/hr.

·       Freezing Rain of 10-15 mm is expected

·       Ice buildup from freezing rain.

Operations Update:

City crews will continue to monitor conditions.

 Reminders:

·       Prepare for possible disruptions to transportation, services, and utilities.

·       Keep a safe distance from snowplows and other vehicles

·       Do not park on City roads, and City parking lots.  Plows cannot easily move around parked cars, making it difficult to clear snow.

·       Be prepared by having an emergency plan and a 72-hour emergency kit ready in case of power outages.
