About the Role

The City of Temiskaming Shores is currently seeking a motivated, team-oriented, dedicated professional to join our dynamic team as a Provincial Offences Coordinator within the Corporate Services Department. The Provincial Offences Coordinator is responsible to liaise and work in collaboration with judiciary, provincial enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Attorney General, Justice of the Peace, and other relevant parties to ensure the efficient operation and conduct of Court proceedings. Further, this position must provide strategic leadership with regards to planning and organizing the Provincial Offences Administration (POA) office while maintaining a high regard for the integrity of the administration of justice.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manages scheduling for POA trials and court dates.
  • Monitors and maintains provincial offences fine information within the ICON (Integrated Courts Offences Network) software system.
  • Records and updates collection database of activities, payments received, judgments, extensions, re-openings, and debtor information within the ICON daily reports.
  • Oversees the timely production of collection letters in accordance with municipal policies and procedures.
  • Prepares necessary dockets ensuring they are complete and accurate.
  • Must promptly distribute dockets to all appropriate parties in preparation for court proceedings.
  • Prepares and issues all documents required to proceed to civil enforcement (i.e.: Certificate of Default, Writs of Execution, Notice of Examination, Notice of Garnishments)—Must speak to these matters through the Ontario Court of Justice.
  • Provide important team leadership to help support the efficient operation of the POA department.
  • Must act as Court Clerk when required
  • Acts as backup to all POA positions when needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Successful completion of University Degree or College Diploma in Legal Administration, Law Clerk, Business Administration or related field
  • Three (3) years of related experience in law office, court proceedings, or other relevant experience.
  • Bilingualist is considered an asset.
  • Must possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to exude a high standard of ethical objectivity and confidentiality.
  • Experience with the ICON (Integrated Court Offences Network) would be an asset.
