Significant Weather Event Declared

Effective March 16, 2026

In accordance with Ontario Regulation 239/02 (Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways), the City of Temiskaming Shores has declared a Significant Weather Event.

Important Service Update: All municipal facilities are closed. Temiskaming Transit is suspended until further notice.

Weather Conditions

Current and forecasted weather conditions, including heavy snowfall, freezing rain, drifting snow, and ice accumulation, are impacting the City’s ability to maintain roads and sidewalks to the standards normally required under the regulation.

Road and Sidewalk Maintenance

During this declared Significant Weather Event, roadway and sidewalk conditions may take longer than usual to return to the Minimum Maintenance Standards. City crews will continue to monitor conditions and respond as resources and weather conditions permit.

Duration of Declaration

The declaration will remain in effect until the City determines that the weather event has ended and it is reasonable to resume normal maintenance operations.

Public Advisory

Residents are encouraged to stay home where possible and to exercise caution if travel is necessary.
