Temiskaming Transit Service Review – Public Update
Temiskaming Transit Service Review – Public Update
Temiskaming Transit has completed its comprehensive Transit Service Review. The study examined current transit performance, community feedback, and several options to improve transit service for residents and neighbouring communities.
City staff are recommending that the Transit Committee consider Scenario 8, which proposes a Flex System combining both fixed-route and on-demand service:
- Fixed route along the main corridor from Cobalt to New Liskeard
- On-demand transit zone in New Liskeard
- Transfer point in downtown New Liskeard
- Hourly fixed service from Cobalt to New Liskeard
- Average wait time of 15 minutes within the New Liskeard Demand Zone
The review also explored opportunities for regional transit connections, recognizing the important role Temiskaming Shores plays as a service hub for multiple communities.
To help advance these recommendations, the City will be applying to the Ontario Transit Investment Fund and is seeking to collaborate with 16 municipalities, 3 First Nation partners, and more than a dozen organizations and agencies.
The existing Temiskaming Transit service remains unchanged. If future improvements are proposed, the public will receive clear information and ample notice before any transition.
