About the Role | Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for all day to-day transactional human resources activities including the processing of the City’s payroll for all employees, Council members, volunteer firefighters and board members.
In addition, the HR Coordinator will provide ongoing administrative support and maintain all employee records including updates to pension, benefit and other employee information. They are a resource for recruitment/onboarding and for employee questions related to policies, procedures and benefits. The HR Coordinator will also be responsible for the administration of the City’s Health and Safety Program.
Job Requirements | The ideal candidate will have experience handling confidential business matters and information with tact and discretion, excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively handle issues simultaneously and meet scheduled timelines with strong administrative skills including record-keeping, note-taking, correspondence, proof-reading, document updating, and file-management. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships both internally and externally with knowledge of human resources systems and databases are vital.
The City is seeking applications from those who possess a college diploma or university degree in human resources or related field with strong knowledge of provincial employment legislation in Ontario and HR Best Practices
The preferred candidate will be a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with membership in good standing with the professional association
