Seasonal Active Travel Programmer - Competition No. 2024-010

The City of Temiskaming Shores is located in Northeastern Ontario on the shores of Lake Temiskaming. Our amalgamated city of 9,900 residents is a service center for a catchment within southern Timiskaming of almost 30,000 people.

The City is currently seeking an Active Travel Programmer within the City's Recreation Department. The successful applicant will be an independent, energetic individual, eager to implement active travel programming within the community.

Reporting to the City's Superintendent of Community Programs, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating active travel programs for community residents as outlined in the City's Active Transportation Plan. You will be required to work individually, in collaboration with other City staff and with other community partners to deliver programs for all ages with an emphasis on those under 12.

This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to work close to local decision makers both within the municipality and within the greater community. This position will reward those with creativity, initiative and ambition. The successful candidate will be afforded ample opportunity to work independently and implement their own ideas with assistance from other City staff when necessary.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

Experience in the delivery of recreation program including planning, implementation and evaluation;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Valid First Aid / CPR certification;
Valid class G Ontario drivers license.
